As I look forward to the next 10 years, I share this tweet I sent just this week,
“The promise of #EdTech hasn’t been fully realized. I have yet to see a fully #digital district where learning is seamless.”
The tech is there; digital books, assessment tools, PD, bandwidth, tablets, tech savvy teachers (for the most part). Funding has long been argued as the main barrier to full integration. Yet we continue to see pockets of excellence, or innovation. What’s holding us back? I welcome your thoughts.
Hence, my hypothesis leads me to believe that education is ripe for massive disruption leading up to 2020. The proliferation of startups popping up in the EdTech space appears to be a strong indicator.
What if we started a bold movement and declared, “#GoPaperlessDay” across Canada? It’s been argued that the millions of dollars spent annually by school districts and post-secondary institutions on printing could be redirected toward EdTech to radically transform education where every student truly experiences tech infused pedagogy. Are you in?
I issue you a challenge to join me in going paperless. I declare Friday, April 7th #GoPaperlessDay! I promise to do my part to support you in our collective mission to enable all students to experience a true 21st century education.
Before I close off. An important note to share. We’re pleased to partner with CoSN Invent the Future Conference April 3-6. Join us in Chicago! It's not too late to register!
Until next time, keep the ‘digital’ learning curve steep!
Best,
