Children are always learning, even when schools are closed. There are so many activities that provide opportunities for growth. Some of the best learning happens in everyday moments shared with children.

No requirements are posted on this site. Families know best what learning expectations will be reasonable based on their own circumstances.

Although many of our roles are different right now, we want to assure you that our work to provide you with resources and encouragement is ongoing. We hope you will find the materials on this site helpful for supporting learning at home.

New resources will be shared over time. Please check back often.

  • Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE) and the New Brunswick Physical Education Society have pulled together many relevant resources to support all aspects of student wellbeing at home. New resources and videos are added weekly. Visit the PHE Home Learning Centre
  • Mental Health Mondays:  John B. Fletcher, Counselling Therapist, is offering this video series to provide a variety of strategies for maintaining and improving your mental health. A new video will be posted each Monday.
  • We recognize the significant strain that COVID-19 has placed on individuals and families. Many people are concerned about their physical and mental well being. Canadians are being challenged in a number of ways because of isolation, financial and employment uncertainty and disruptions to daily life. The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) supports the Wellness Together portal, a Government of Canada initiative that provides e-mental health supports and access to virtual counselling services to everyone in Canada. Wellness Together Canada provides free online resources, tools, apps and connections to trained volunteers and qualified mental health professionals when needed.

  • Let’s Get Exploring! (Kindergarten – Grade 2) These activities will help children learn by exploring their own neighbourhoods with their grownups. Each activity provides a new opportunity to make walking around your neighbourhood, exploring your own backyard, or staying at home continue to be interesting and educational for your child. This learning package was developed in collaboration with ASD-W.

This activity page is paired with, I Spy, an original story written and illustrated by our friends at ASD-W. The story introduces the type of activities a little girl and her mother do together during a period of physical distancing. Try taking turns reading the story out loud with your child before trying the activities from the story yourselves.
  • Signs of Spring  (Kindergarten – Grade 2) It is that time of year when signs of spring are starting to show themselves all around us. Children love to get outside and explore. The goal of these activities is to get kids exploring the world around them and identifying treasures hidden in plain sight – treasures that can be used for learning! This Learning Plan was developed in collaboration with ASD-S.

These activities can be completed with materials typically found in many households. This Learning Plan was developed in collaboration with ASD-W.
  • Connecting to the Earth Through Observation (Grades 3-5) What makes the world around us unique and special? Your child will explore this question by developing their observation skills and using their creativity to think about our connections to the Earth and our environment, and then recording their observations in a field journal. All activities can be completed without an electronic device. This Learning Plan was developed in collaboration with a team of EECD Learning Specialists.
  • Connecting to the Earth Through Time (Grades 3-5)  The Earth is always changing. We know this because scientists observe how it changes historically.
